Theme: Building a Welcoming Community

Date: May 5-7, 2023

Spend the day or weekend with the North Columbus Quaker Meeting at Lake Hope park. We have the cabin booked for the weekend. We’ll have programming during the day and prepare meals together. 

This year’s North Columbus Friends Meeting Spring Retreat will take place at Lake Hope State Park where we will stay together at Laurel Lodge. This lodge includes a fully functional kitchen for our exclusive use with refrigerator, freezer, stove, oven, etc; a large open gathering space with couches, chairs, and dining tables; 8 bedrooms with multiple beds per room; along with several bathrooms & showers as well. This year’s retreat theme is “Building a Welcoming Community”.

NCFM’s Spring Retreat is an opportunity for:

• having time away from our everyday and being together in a nature-filled setting,
• spending time getting to know one another better,
• strengthening our sense and experience of our community,
• having space for deepening our sense of Spirit within us and among us.

We attempt this through a myriad of opportunities throughout the weekend, including:

• planning and preparing meals together, eating together, and even bonding over doing the dishes together!
• participating in free-time activities such as hiking, board games, conversations, being out in nature, reading
• learning & growing together through small & large group activities centered on the intended theme for the retreat
• other spontaneous & organic activities which may pop up such as carpooling, conversing, going for walks, learning to knit

Bedding and linens provided (sheets?, blanket?, pillow, and towels), but bring whatever else you need.
