George Fox: A Universalist Quaker Perspective

Saturday 7 September 2024
16:00-17:30 (UK time)

11am-12:30pm (Eastern US time)

George Fox is regarded as the principal leader of the early Quaker movement during the 17th century. Although his religious vision was firmly rooted in a biblical and Christian world view, his emphasis on the universal availability of the Holy Spirit, seems to have transcended the normal boundary-lines of faith identity. In what ways was Fox a universalist?

Rex Ambler was a lecturer in theology at Birmingham University for over thirty years, and is retired. He now works mostly with Friends, teaching ‘Quaker meditation’ and helping people set up their own ‘light groups’ to practice it.

The session is part of the celebrations of Fox 400.
