The Ministry and Nurture Committee is excited to sponsor someone from NCFM to
participate in an upcoming online class from Pendle Hill, the Quaker Conference
Center in Pennsylvania.
The title of the course is Elements of Quakerism: Training the Facilitators. The group will meet once a week, September 12 – October 24. Participants will both learn about the elements of Quakerism and learn how to share those learnings with Friends at NCFM.
Following is what Pendle Hill writes about the course:
“This compelling seven-week course explores the spiritual roots of Quaker faith and practice. The syllabus has a broad audience, but this unique cohort invites Friends to both participate in the course and learn how to facilitate it in their own style in their own Meetings.
The course is text-based. Each week there is up to about an hour and a half of reading to do before the
class. In class, we will discuss how the ideas in the materials might relate to our own spiritual experiences
The number of participants is limited to 10, so that people can get to know and trust each other and share
about their own experiences and understandings.”
Some of the topics to be included: the essence of Quakerism; Quaker history; silence; vocal Ministry; the
Quaker Meeting for Business; the basis of Quaker community; and living out the Testimonies.
If you are interested in applying for this learning opportunity, please contact: outreachinreach@gmail.com and the editor will forward your messages on to Susan or Barbara or see them in person at Meeting by August 2nd, 2026.
